About Alex Gray
Who am I?
Hello, and welcome to my site! My name is Alex, and I've been a professional freelance writer and game designer in the TTRPG industry since 2021 when I first began working with the illustrious pioneers of bespoke boxed-text: dScryb.
After finding my feet in the industry I also set up Arcane Quill Publishing in 2023 to publish my own creations. My debut Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition adventure Ancient Cargo is now a best-seller on DriveThruRPG!
What do I do?
I have the pleasure of working with clients from across the world to bring their ideas to life! Whether that be contributing to a major game supplement like my work on Imperium Maledictum, or crafting bespoke adventures to a client's specification. I truly love my work!

Adding magic to the table
My creative process
Player Agency
Why we play games
Player agency is at the heart of my design philosophy, and I ensure that my work presents the players with meaningful, dramatic choices which clearly influence the narrative.
Setting the scene
Painting a picture
My unique blend of evocative and detailed descriptions easily transport the players into the game. From monsters to magic, everything feels real.
Curated Chaos
Let the dice decide
Rolls on random tables provide a wealth of inspiration and a tantalising creative challenge when I design. I relish the process of weaving disparate elements together to create something unique.
